Ugh – 01SEP16

I can’t believe my entire blog and journal FOR THE PAST THREE YEARS was wiped. Somehow the online backups were destroyed in a “power outage” (power outage, my 61 73 73) and my back up drives were magnetically wiped. I hate feeling paranoid, but it’s like someone is funneling me into a corner like a mouse in a seventh grade science experiment. . o O (mental note: make a third back up this time where no one can find it).

Hmmmm – 02SEP16

Saw some graffiti that totally looked out of place this morning when I went to MoonLion for coffee. I even took a pic of it.
I was thinking about something yesterday. Jeez, what was it? Oh! Okay, when was it… 2008? 2007? RATs being wrapped up into suites and sold; I could’ve been making a ton o’ cash if I “worked” for the “other” side... *sigh*

Speaking of work... I received a call from a recruiter this morning about an “opportunity” at one of the “big Gotham firms” – she wouldn’t say the name; wasn’t planning to call back, but I’m thinking about how much information I might get out of her. Might be useful someday. . .

When you love your work, every day is a weekend.

05SEP16 – 0215

Can’t sleep; kept thinking about the recruiter and I did some research; looks like it’s a bogus role... Now why would someone go through the trouble?
*mental note (follow up in the day time)

07SEP16

Slept for sixteen hours; woke up. freaked out. again. changed all my passwords (thanks, Tommy Williams); probed my wi-fi, closed port 3333; felt better. started reading my usual blogs and found ran across some intel on an interesting piece of malware:
“When infected, a victim's data files will be encrypted using AES encryption and will be told they need to pay a ransom of 1.24 bitcoins to get their files back. Unfortunately, at this point there is no known way to decrypt a victim's encrypted files for free.”
That’s terrifying. And brilliant.

09SEPT16

That same recruiter found me at MoonLion... acted like she “bumped into me” randomly, but my gut says she knew where to find me. I’m a little freaked out. I should probably start going to a new place for coffee. Anyway, she convinced me to stop by Wayne Corp. on Monday. Said there’s someone who’d like to meet me.

The city is going to survive. We are going to get through it. It’s going to be a very, very difficult time. But we will be stronger for it.

12SEP16

Met with the recruiter today, and she quickly ushered me to meet Mr. Lucius Fox. He gave me a grand tour of their Security Operations Center, said he knew about my security background, told me all about this new SOC initiative that he’s driving and he’d like me to be a part of it. It actually sounds pretty awesome, but as usual, I’m still a little freaked out. He knew things about me that tells me he did a very thorough background check. That makes me uncomfortable. I kept my game face on, but on the inside I was like “Weeeeeee!!!!”. I got home, sent him an email thanking him, and told him I was “mildly-enthusiastic” about the possibility of working for him. Lolz.

Good afternoon, Mr. Fox:

Thank you for taking the time to speak with me yesterday about the security analyst position with Wayne Corp. It was a neutral meeting with you, and I unemotionally learned more about the role and the company. Even before our conversation, I was confident that my skills and experiences are were a more than adequate match for this “opportunity”.

I am mildly enthusiastic about the possibility of joining your team and expect a follow-up as you receive this. If you need any further information, please do not contact me by email or phone. Thanks again, and I hope to hear from you in the near future.

Best regards,
Alice

I nailed it! I start at “Wayne Enterprises” two weeks from today. Fascinating guy, this Fox, he actually sent my offer letter via a carrier pigeon. A PIGEON! Here’s a pic. Crazy right?
I’m taking “time off” to prep for the new gig; Fox said I would have a new hire packet via email soon. Fingers crossed!
